Sunday brings together a high number of protesters again. Over 50,000 in Bucarest, 10.000 in Cluj-Napoca, 7.000 in Sibiu, 5.000 in Timișoara, 2.000 in Iași.
DAY 13Over 10,000 out on the streets,in the coldest day since the protests have started
A marathon of democracy was organized around Victoriei Square area. Protesters from London, Iași, Cluj-Napoca, Timișoara, Sibiu, Brașov, Constanța, Bucharest keep on #resisting.
DAY 12Drums, whistles, hand-pans and6,000 PROTESTERS
Musical instruments keep the rhythm while protesters chant. "#resist" is the iconic message of Romanians’ asking for an honest and trustworthy government.
DAY 11Heavy snow and5,000 PROTESTERS
Despite Justice Minister Florin Iordache’s resignation, Romanians keep on protesting in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Sibiu. Cell phone lights are turned on at 21:00 in a demonstration ritual started on Day 06.
DAY 10Protestingdespite the blizzard
Over 7,000 people gather in Victoriei Square during a yellow code for snow. The government survives opposition's censure motion to change the entire cabinet.
DAY 09Numbers drop,the message stays the sames
Fewer protesters than in previous days. Only a couple of thousands, but spread across several cities. Everyone waits the government's next move.
DAY 08Drizzle in Victory Square.20.000 protesters
The Government officials deliver mixed messages that make the Emergency Ordinance status even more blurry. Protesters claim the Government officials are not trustworthy and should, thus, resign.
DAY 07The Government repeals the Emergency Ordinance, the protest continues. OVER 250,000 PEOPLE IN BUCHAREST
At 16:00 the Government repeals the Government Emergency Ordinance 13 and publishes the Government Emergency Ordinance 14 in the Official Romanian Journal. But there are signs of doubt related to its structure. People keep on protesting. Students from all over the country arrive in Bucharest. 600,000 people throughout the whole country.
DAY 06Children Protest in the morning, new record in the evening:170,000 PEOPLE IN VICTORIEI SQUARE
The fifth day starts early in the morning with 10,000 parents and children in Victoriei Square. During evening, people protest in front of the Parliament, too. The Prime Minister announces at 20:30 his intention to repeal the emergency ordinance in the following day.
DAY 05Everyone sings theRomanian Anthem
After 22:00, protesters from the entire country sing along the national anthem, in a night with over 300,000 Romanians out in the streets.
DAY 04Prostests witha smile
The number of protesters decreases in Bucharest but grows in the cities throughout the country. The Government does not give up on the idea of the emergency ordinance.
DAY 03Victoriei Square becomesovercrowded
Over 150,000 protesters are in Victoriei Square, the biggest protest in the past 25 years (the record is to be surpassed in the forthcoming days). Youth, parents, children are at the protest.
DAY 02Spontaneous protest inVictoriei Square
The Government announces the Emergency Ordinance. In less than an hour, more than 10,000 Romanians gather in front of the Government Headquarters.
